‌The Dynamic Duo: Low-Voltage Incoming Switchgear and GGD Capacitor Bank in Synergistic Protection

Dec 22, 2025 Leave a message

Low-voltage incoming switchgear‌ serves as the "heart" of the power distribution system, primarily managing three key functions:

1‌,Power Distribution and Control‌: Acting as the "main switch" of the entire system, it distributes electricity from the low-voltage side of the transformer to the busbar, regulating power supply to downstream equipment.

2‌,Protection‌: Equipped with circuit breakers and fuses, it safeguards against short circuits, overcurrent, and lightning strikes, ensuring system safety.

3,Monitoring and Metering‌: Featuring current transformers and voltmeters, it tracks real-time power parameters and enables accurate energy measurement.

GGD low-voltage capacitor bankspecializes in ‌reactive power compensation‌. Motors and transformers generate reactive power, which reduces efficiency. The capacitor bank compensates for this, improving power factor, reducing line losses, stabilizing voltage, and cutting electricity costs. It is typically connected in parallel to the low-voltage busbar and includes fuses, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, and a smart controller for automatic switching.

The GGD cabinet is a fixed low-voltage distribution unit with a breaking capacity of 15–50 kA and an IP30–IP54 protection rating, suitable for industrial and commercial settings. Its core application is ‌capacitor compensation‌, significantly enhancing power quality.

Together, these two devices-one managing "overall control" and the other handling "compensation"-work in harmony to ensure stable and efficient power distribution.
