Mining & Minerals Processing Switchgear Solutions

Mine sites and mineral processing plants place unusual demands on power distribution equipment - dust ingress, vibration from heavy machinery, remote logistics, and motor-heavy continuous-duty loads that cannot tolerate unplanned downtime. Zhejiang Gangheng Electric has manufactured HV, MV and LV switchgear since 2004, supplying power distribution equipment for industrial and processing facilities across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Our equipment is built to IEC standards, configurable for harsh-environment enclosure protection, and backed by committed delivery schedules aligned with mine development and expansion timelines.
Switchgear & Power Distribution Products for Mining & Minerals Processing
Mine-site power systems typically span a primary receiving substation (10–35kV) feeding a processing plant MCC (0.4kV) and, where the switchroom isn't feasible on-site, a factory-assembled compact substation for remote power points. Gangheng supplies the full equipment range as an integrated package.
High & Medium Voltage Switchgear - 12kV & 40.5kV
KYN28A-12
Indoor Metal-Clad Moveable Switchgear (12kV) - Recommended for mine substation 10kV incoming panels and feeder distribution to processing plant sub-stations. Withdrawable design simplifies breaker maintenance without shutting down adjacent feeders - relevant where processing plants run continuous shifts. Five-prevention mechanical interlock system for sites with rotating maintenance crews.
KYN61-40.5
Armored Removable Switchgear (40.5kV) - Recommended for large mine or concentrator complexes with a dedicated 35kV bulk receiving substation, where power is stepped down before distribution to multiple processing units. High short-circuit withstand (up to 40kA) and internal arc fault protection suit high-capacity mine-site power entry points.
XGN66-12
Box-Type Fixed AC Metal-Enclosed Switchgear (10kV) - Recommended for smaller mine sites or satellite substations where a compact, fixed-type panel is preferred over a full withdrawable system, particularly where switchroom space is limited by site layout or modular building construction.
Low Voltage Switchgear & MCC - 0.4kV / 380V

MNS & GCS Series Low Voltage Withdrawable Switchgear
Recommended as the primary MCC for concentrator and processing plant motor loads: crushers, mills, conveyors, flotation and thickener drives. Hot-swap withdrawable drawers allow a faulted motor feeder to be isolated and replaced without de-energising the busbar - critical for processing plants where any unplanned stop affects the full production line.

GGD Fixed Low-Voltage Switchgear
Recommended for utility and auxiliary distribution at mine-site facilities - workshop power, site accommodation, water pumping, lighting distribution - where structural durability under a demanding duty cycle takes priority over modular flexibility.

Prefabricated Compact Substations
YB Series Prefabricated (European-Type) Compact Substation (50–1600kVA, 6–10kV) - Recommended for remote mine-site power points, satellite pits, or temporary construction-phase power where a full civil-works switchroom isn't practical. Factory-assembled and tested before shipment, integrating HV switchgear, transformer, and LV distribution in a single enclosure - reduces on-site installation time significantly compared to conventional substation construction, an important factor for site power that needs to be live before mine development activities can proceed.
Configured for Mine-Site & Processing Plant Environments
Dust & Particulate Ingress Protection
IP54 enclosure rating standard for processing plant switchrooms and outdoor-adjacent installations; IP65 available on request for high-dust environments such as crusher and screening station power rooms.
01
Vibration-Exposed Installation Locations
Cabinet mounting and internal component fixing can be reinforced for locations near heavy rotating or reciprocating machinery, on request - please confirm specific vibration data if available for engineering review.
02
Elevated Temperature & Remote-Site Conditions
Standard IEC thermal ratings with configuration flexibility; anti-condensation heaters and thermostat-controlled ventilation supplied as standard for humid or high-temperature deployment regions, relevant to many African and Middle Eastern mine sites.
03
Corrosion Resistance for Processing Environments
Epoxy anti-corrosion coating (C4/C5 category) or hot-dip galvanised finish; SS304/SS316 stainless steel enclosure options where processing chemicals or coastal proximity create a corrosive atmosphere.
04
IEC 62271 / ANSI / BS EN Standards Compliance
Manufactured and tested to IEC 62271 (MV/HV) and IEC 61439 (LV) as standard; full re-engineering to ANSI/IEEE C37 or BS EN available for projects specified by international mining groups.

Application Scenarios in Mining & Minerals Processing
Mine Primary Receiving Substation
The main incoming substation is the power entry point for the entire mine site. KYN61-40.5 serves as the 35kV incoming panel for large operations; KYN28A-12 handles 10kV feeder distribution to processing and site-wide loads. Protection relay coordination and full FAT documentation provided for mine owner and EPC acceptance.
Concentrator & Processing Plant MCC
Crushing, grinding, and flotation circuits require MCC systems with reliable motor-starting protection and fast fault isolation to avoid production line stoppages. MNS/GCS withdrawable switchgear provides the hot-swap maintenance capability required for continuous processing plant operation.
Site Utility & Auxiliary Power
Workshops, site accommodation, water supply, and general site infrastructure require dependable low-voltage distribution separate from the processing plant's critical loads. GGD fixed switchgear is configured for this duty.
Remote & Satellite Site Power
Exploration camps, satellite pits, or construction-phase power needs are frequently in locations without existing electrical infrastructure. YB series prefabricated substations provide a factory-tested, rapidly deployable power point.
Mine Expansion & Capacity Upgrades
As mine and processing capacity expands, existing distribution infrastructure often requires upgrading. GH engineers replacement or additional switchgear to integrate with existing site single-line diagrams and switchroom layouts, minimising disruption to ongoing operations.
