High-voltage switchgear is a vital piece of equipment in power systems, primarily used to control, protect, and isolate high-voltage electrical equipment. High-voltage switchgear can be categorized into various types based on different usage scenarios and technical requirements, each with its own unique design features and application areas.

By structural type, high-voltage switchgear is primarily divided into fixed and removable (trolley-type) types. Fixed switchgear features a simple structure and lower cost, making it suitable for applications with limited space requirements and low maintenance frequency. Its switchgear is directly fixed within the cabinet, offering high stability, but maintenance requires power outages. Removable switchgear utilizes a removable trolley design, allowing key components such as circuit breakers to be easily pushed in and out of the cabinet, facilitating inspection and maintenance while also improving power supply continuity. This type of switchgear is widely used in locations requiring high power reliability, such as substations and industrial distribution systems.

By voltage level, high-voltage switchgear is generally divided into medium-voltage (1-52kV) and high-voltage (above 52kV). Medium-voltage switchgear is the most common type, widely used in urban power grids, industrial and mining enterprises, and commercial buildings. High-voltage switchgear is suitable for power transmission at higher voltage levels, such as in large substations and power plants. Its design and manufacturing standards are more stringent to ensure safe operation under extreme conditions.

Furthermore, high-voltage switchgear can be categorized by insulation medium into three types: air-insulated, gas-insulated (such as SF6), and solid-insulated. Air-insulated switchgear offers low cost and simple maintenance, but occupies a larger floor space. Gas-insulated switchgear is compact and offers superior insulation performance, making it suitable for space-constrained environments. Solid-insulated switchgear, using materials such as epoxy resin, offers enhanced safety and environmental friendliness.

Each type of high-voltage switchgear has its own advantages. Users can choose the most appropriate option based on their specific needs to ensure safe, stable, and efficient operation of their power systems.
